Mini Project: Book Cover Design- Text Layout & Colour

Project 3: Mock-up Booklet

Image
After producing my designs for my booklet, I have put them all together in order by using InDesign and printed it off as a mock-up. Printing the mock-up has been helpful so that I can see what does and doesn't work within the spacing and layout of the booklet. Also, I can see how the images and text look together. The main change that I need to make is the composition of the text so there is not too much spacing.  The next stages now are to add colour to my Illustrations. I will be doing this by using Photoshop.

Project 3: Leaflet Illustrations

Image
I have started to go over my Illustration in posca pen. Afterwards, I scanned them into Photoshop. Before creating a mock-up of my booklet, I need to produce two more illustrations as my aim is to have 5 illustration that explain 5 health benefits of walking.  I'm happy with the work that I've produced so far as I have changed the scale of the character to represent how walking is important. After making all 5 drawings, I'm going to see how text would work alongside these images. Also, I am considering making every page a double page spread so that there isn't too much space within the booklet.

Project 3: Leaflet Front Cover Design:

Image
The image presented here is my front cover design for my booklet. I wanted the front cover to link to the theme of how I have played with the scale of the characters. There are a few changes that could be made. Such as, altering the size of letters within the boot and making the leg and the boot slightly bigger so that there is less space. After completing these changes, I can start to add text to bottom of the design that will link to my made up walking campaign.

Project 1: Animal Testing Posters Typography

Image
I have started to draw my own type that I am going to apply to my posters. I'm not too sure whether hand drawn type will work with my designs. But if not, I will find a font on Illustrator that works well with my illustrations.

Project 1: Animal Testing Posters- Foundation Background Tests

Image
Before creating my third poster, I need to make a background that links to the product that is tested on guinea pigs. The main product that is tested on guinea pigs is foundation. So I have experimented and used foundation and made marks on multiples pages and scanned them into Photoshop. By using Photoshop, I was able to change the colour of the smudges to show the variety of foundation shades. After creating these backgrounds, I'm going to see how it works with my guinea pig illustration.

Mini Activity: James and the Giant Peach Hand- Written Type Sheet

Image
Before writing out the blurb for the book, I wanted to experiment with a range of hand written fonts. Some of these fonts are successful but I think the bottom left font would be too detailed for a blurb. I think simple line work is needed for the blurb so it is easier to read at a small scale.

Mini Activity: James and the Giant Peach- Book Cover Collage Layout

Image
As I have been struggling to find the right layout and composition for my book cover design, I have cut out my previous work and created collages. These collages have been useful because I can move the furniture and characters around. My last book cover design was too structured for a scene that is meant to show chaos, so moving these elements around has enabled me to visually communicate the scene much better.
