Project 3- Research:
For my third project, I'm thinking about creating a leaflet that visually communicates the benefits of walking and how we should rely less on vehicles.
Before making designs, I have gathered together some research that can go alongside the illustrations. Also, I have made sure that this research is from websites that will give me factual and accurate information. I have used the NHS website for my research as there are multiple articles that link to walking and how it be healthy. These articles are encouraging readers to walk more and use vehicles less.
The first article states factors of walking. The health benefits are:
- It improves sleep patterns
-Reduces stress
-Reduces your blood pressure
-Helps manage your weight
- Improves energy levels
Articles also suggests to the reader on how walking can improve their community by joining a walking group. This gives people the opportunity to socialise with others of all ages and backgrounds.
Listening to music has been advised so that you feel more motivated and walk much faster.
Ditching vehicles for short journeys such as walking to the shops could help reduce air pollution as there are less vehicles on the road. Even short walks are good forms of exercise.
Another website that I have used is GOV.Uk. They have an article on their website that discusses the problem of air pollution and how we all can help to reduce it. The article states that reducing air pollution can happen by " encouraging people to walk and cycle rather than drive can help people to be fitter and healthier."
Therefore, to have a healthier lifestyle and to help the environment, this means:
- Restricting motor vehicle space
-Improving or adding green spaces to help nature grow
"People's behaviour can help reduce their exposure to air pollution... walking or cycling work or to get public transport whilst avoiding polluted routes, such as main roads, can help improve health and reduce exposure."
After finding all of this research, I'm now going to start making some rough thumbnails/ sketches that can present my ideas for this project.
